Coast to Coast on a Horse
Andrea Holmes spends her evenings and weekends on the needs of her beloved thoroughbred horse Sid.
This summer Andrea will be reliquishing her responsibilities for Sid, to relax in his stable, whilst she adopts a new steed for the week and takes to the rocky mountains of the Scottish Highlands for a coast to coast horseback adventure all in the aid of charity. Over six days, Andrea will experience life in the saddle to the extreme, travelling from Brora on the East Coast to Lochinver on the West, spending a total of 36 hours in the saddle. She will face steep cliff treks, high speed gallops, hikes through flowing rivers as well as jumping the odd ditch along the way. This horseback adventure aims to raise money for the World Horse Welfare Organisation, a fantastic charity which works tirelessly to give sick and neglected horses a second chance at life here in the UK and overseas.
“I'm really excited about the challenge and looking forward to the thought of riding all week in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland. However I am, at the same time, slightly apprehensive about being able to complete the challenge as well as being a little nervous about what the Scottish weather may throw at us along the way!”
